Pet Processing Info/Inquiries

Our Services: We offer an array of memorial options for pets, including skeleton cleaning, skull cleaning, articulation (putting the skeleton back together), wet specimen preservation, partial cremation (consisting of the parts not used for the main memorial-i.e. fur, organs, sometimes bone, etc– will come in one 2-dram vial like those shown at the bottom of this page), ink paw or nose prints (available in black, silver, or gold), resin nose casts (currently only available in black resin), organ preservation, fur tanning (click to read about our fur tanning services) and more! If you would like any additional services not listed here, feel free to contact us and we’ll see if we can assist you, or refer you to someone that can help you out.

Pricing: We require a minimum $100 down payment on all commissions before we will start working on them. This ensures that you will not change your mind and leave us with a half-processed animal/pet, and allows us to purchase supplies needed to process your pet. The remaining balance plus shipping is due when the commission is complete and you’re happy with it. Our pricing is based on the size of the animal. There are base prices for different sizes of pet, and then there are extra costs for extra services. A few extra costs can include:

  • Winter charge: In the colder months, it requires more electricity and time to process. There is a $25 fee if your pet will be processed during the colder months. This helps pay for heaters that frequently break, higher electric bills, and other needs. Keep in mind that we’re located in Southern Alabama, so it stays warm here most of the year. This fee usually only applies during October-February months, but may not apply if it’s a warmer year.
  • Extra services: If you would like a harder articulation pose, paw prints made, partial cremation returned to you, or other special requests there may be small fees added. We do offer to wet preserve and return your pet’s heart free of charge, but you will need a jar and 70% isopropyl alcohol to place it in upon arrival.
Time Frame: Turnaround time varies greatly on species and size of animal, time of year, and what stage of processing the animal is in. We can articulate a completely cleaned skeleton in about a week. However, to fully process an animal from fur to bones can take many weeks to months. The average turnaround time for a cat or dog is between 2-7 months depending on how long it takes to degrease and our workload at the time. The process to fully process an animal includes: skinning, gutting, fleshing, macerating, fully degreasing (longest step), whitening/sanitizing, sorting, drilling, wiring, posing, and finally gluing the skeleton . We keep you extremely informed during the entire process, and will continuously update you as the process progresses with pictures if you’d like us to.

Payment Plans: We require the $100 down payment, and then you have the several months it’ll take to clean and articulate your pet to save up the rest. We keep you very informed on the progress of your pet so you will know when the money will be needed.

Shipping: To see how to properly ship your pet (or any whole frozen animal) to us, click here. We also offer drop offs (located in Dothan, AL) and pick-ups and drop offs (at a rate of $2 per mile one way) Once the articulation is complete, we pack it very securely. Packing materials vary depending on the size and durability of the articulation, but usually include: bubble wrap (various sizes), air bags, packing peanuts (various sizes), balloons, PolyFil stuffing, shredded paper, or crumpled paper. When applicable, articulations will be double boxed, with more packing material between the two boxes. When applicable, the buyer is presented with a few different shipping options via USPS, FedEx, or UPS. The buyer is responsible for asking about adding insurance to the package.

Referrals: We also offer a referral program where you can get $50 per referral you send our way for our pet processing services. If you’d like more info on how to become one of our affiliates please click here

Basic Info about Inquiries

Custom requests are the lifeblood of our business. 95% of our articulations are made-to-order, which is why you will rarely see one publicly for sale. We offer a huge range of customization to make your articulation one-of-a-kind and original to you. We do not mass produce articulations in the same pose.

Commissioning an articulation gives you full control over how it’ll be posed and allows you to customize the subtle details to make it fit your wants and needs.

We accept commissions on a case by case basis, and we can reject a commission for any reason we see fit. Pets have priority here at OddArticulations, LLC, and basic commissions may be set aside if a pet needs to be worked on. Many times a year, we simply do not have the space nor time to accept commissions, and we reserve the right to close commissions at any time to allow us to catch up on the surplus amount of work.

We usually have several cool animals in our freezer or as cleaned skeletons ready to be articulated, so if you’re looking for anything in particular feel free to fill out the form at the bottom of the page and we’ll see if we can help you out. Even if we do not have the animal you are looking for, we may know how to acquire one, or may refer you to someone else to assist with your inquiry.
